Māori Television’s Te Ao With Moana has won the Best Current Affairs Series tohu at the 2021 Voyager Media Awards.
The judges praised both its commitment to profiling important issues and the detailed and responsible treatment of those stories.
The win was based on three stories – interviews with high profile former prisoners David Tamihere and Teina Pora; Hikurangi Jackson’s Once Were Gangsters' on what happened to gang members and their whānau when they leave gang life; and Sarah Hall’s unpacking of a questionable forceful arrest.
