Streaming win for Maori tech company
Tuaropaki Trust subsidiary MB Energy has won the Callaghan Innovation-sponsored Māori company of the year award at the New Zealand Hi-Tech Awards.
The Taupo-based company provides geothermal drilling engineering and engineering maintenance services to the power-generation sector.
Its win was based on its new tool which combines hardware and software to inspect wells in a way that provides significantly more data on their condition than competing solutions.
It is already deploying its Multi Finger High-Temperature Casing Caliper for customers in Indonesia and the Philippines, as well as looking after Tuaropaki’s wells.
Chief executive Greg Thompson says the company had benefited from the trust’s innovation approach of starting small and scaling fast.
Tuaropaki Trust’s focus is on investing in innovative businesses helps it provide high-value employment opportunities, with MB Century offering an apprenticeship, internship and graduate programmes to trust shareholders and their whānau.
