New head for Maori arts roopuu


The chair of Toi Maori Aotearoa says the organisation is in good hands with the appointment of Tamahou Temara as chief executive, replacing long serving tumu whakarae Garry Nicholas.
He says Mr Temara, from Ngāi Tūhoe, joined the organisation as operations manager 15 years ago from Te Papa and has a thorough understanding of its mahi promoting all Māori art forms except kapa haka.
He brings extensive experience and relationships to the role of at a time the profile of Māori artists in Aotearoa has never been stronger.
