People and programmes priorities for broadcast putea
More pay and more programmes are top of Māori Television boss' mind, Shane Taurima, as he waits to see how much his service will get from the Budget.
The Government has allocated $42 million to build a sustainable Māori media sector and invest in programme content.
Mr Taurima says Māori Television hasn’t received any new funding in 13 years, and his first priority has to be addressing a $1.7 million deficit and then looking at the significant wage and salary gap with mainstream broadcasting.
"Beyond that of course any additional funding must go to content and we would be very much in favour of that happening," he says.
