Unlearning Racism plan sign tide has turned

The Race Relations Commissioner says a Teaching Council initiative to shows the tide has turned against displays of racism.
Unteaching Racism includes an app, resources and conversations on a teachers-only online platform to help teachers identify, confront and dismantle racism in the education system.
Meng Foon says it acknowledges racism is a learned behaviour, and it can be unlearned.
Instead of it being an issue for Māori and other minorities who weren’t listened to, sports codes, employers, media organisations and now the education system say it’s time for action.
"Racism is everywhere and I think in the last couple of years the conversation about racism has come to the fore and that's really good because I think people ae feeling safer to talk about it and I think we have our time,” Mr Foon says.
