Reti says online search will justify race attack
National Party deputy leader Shane Reti is urging people to reach their won conclusions on plans for a water authority for the South Island.
Ngāi Tahu says National leader Judith Collins’ claim the plan is to give the iwi co-ownership of water assets is deceptive and wrong.
Dr Reti says the party is trying to force a conversation on issues the Government wants to hide.
"Have a look at her speech. Have a look with a view to the argument being made around water and co-governance, co-ownership. Have a look at the document that is online and draw your own conclusions. Furthermore, speak with your mayor, speak with your councillors, see what they make of it. Then you can draw your own conclusions," he says.
Dr Reti denies latest polling shows Ms Collins is misreading the mood of the nation, and says it’s a long way to 2023.
