Collins says Maori health plan needs wider consultation
National Party leader Judith Collins wants to give the wider public a veto on the proposed Māori Health Authority.
Ms Collins says the plan for an authority with the power to commission services alongside HealthNZ is segregation, and she wants the Government to let New Zealanders have more of a say on whether they want it.
She says if Te Tiriti obligations demand a separate health system, do we also need a separate education system or justice system?
Māori Party co-leader Debbie Ngarewa-Packer says Collins should read her party's own 2020 election review which recommended making Māori a "priority area", rather than indulge in racist politicking.
