Maori business showcase cause for celebration
Twenty Māori firms and social enterprises have had a chance to showcase their products and services to investors and industry representatives at Auckland's Maritime Museum.
They include Au, which runs cultural workshops for corporations and groups, South Auckland based shared office rental agency GRID MNK and kapa haka for hire company Haka Experience.
Organiser Vanessa Freeman says the Tāmaki Makaurau Taki Hua Māori Business Showcase was originally planned for the America's Cup to attract foreign investment, but it turned into an opportunity for operators to come together with like-minded people.
"(It's a) fantastic opportunity for our Māori business whānau to be kanohi ki te kanohi and you can see and feel in the room everybody is loving being able to be with one another, celebrate what's going on but actually just coming together, that whakawhanaungatanga and having the opportunity to be together was the real success of tonight," Ms Freeman says.
