Jobless rolls shrink
Almost 33,000 people moved off benefits into work into the March quarter, the largest number since electronic records started in1996.
Employment Minister Carmel Sepuloni says it shows the government’s Covid-19 has worked.
As well as the Wage Subsidy to keep people in work, there was additional funding for Flexi-Wage and industry interventions such as Apprenticeship Boost.
Māori made up 37.7 percent of those receiving Jobseeker Support, a total of almost 76,000 people, compared with New Zealand European at 69,0000 or 34.4 percent.
