MP Kiritapu Allan is taking leave of absence while she undergoes medical treatment for cervical cancer.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says the East Coast MP is a person of determination, and she will be focused on her treatment, and ultimately her return.
Kris Faafoi has been appointed to be Acting Minister of Emergency Management, having held the portfolio before.
Ayesha Verrall will be the Acting Minister of Conservation and Peeni Henare will be Acting Associate Minister for Arts Culture and Heritage.
Ms Ardern says she considers Ms Allan not just a colleague, but a friend, and she looks forward to welcoming her back.
