Followers of Te Māramatanga have given permission for their waiata to be released as a learning resource for tamariki in kura and schools throughout Aotearoa.
The faith was established more than a century ago by spiritual leader Te Mareikura Hori Enoka of Ohakune, who along with Rātana founder Tahupotiki Wiremu Ratana came under the influence of prophetess Mere Kikiriki.
Working with te reo Māori education resource developer TupuOra, his descendant Che Wilson has compiled a book and audio recordings of selected waiata.
He says the waiata are sung throughout the country and are of particular interest to many iwi with strong links to Te Māramatanga.
