New Papatoetoe COVID case sparks retesting
Medical authorities have asked students and staff at Papatoetoe High School to be retested after another student was yesterday confirmed as having COVID-19.
The student, who has not been at school, was a casual plus contact of the initial case at the school.
They had been self-isolating and got themselves retested after feeling unwell.
Papatoetoe High will be reclosed until further notice.
A testing station was set up at the school for students and staff, and anyone from the wider school community who needs to be tested has been asked to go to one of the community testing centres rather than the school.
Public health staff are interviewing the student and their family to identify locations of interest.
There were five new cases of COVID-19 yesterday in managed isolation.
