Clean hands best protection

Wash your hands, keep signing in with the COVID tracing app.
That’s the advice from the Health Ministry’s director of Māori health as the country waits anxiously for the results of testing which will show whether a south Auckland family cluster of the more infectious UK variant of the coronavirus has spread.
John Whaanga says there is no room for complacency, whatever the alert level.
"I know people are tired of me saying this but washing your hands is one of the single biggest things you can do in any environment to stop the spread of illness. Use the QR codes and Bluetooth tracer. If you are sick, stay at home. So those basic messages apply regardless of whether we scale up into alert level two, three or four," he says.
