NZ History an amazing journey for curriculum

Education Minister Chris Hipkins says the draft New Zealand History curriculum is a sign of the country coming into its own.
He says New Zealanders' pride in themselves is reflected in growing calls to learn their own history and identity.
Rather than seeing it as minor compared to other, older countries, they are embracing knowledge of our past.
"Our kids have been learning about Tudor England, other things that have happened around the world, what about learning about kiwi history and there's a lot of it there's a lot more than people might think, so there's an amazing opportunity now to stand tall as a country. We have been on a journey for the last 200 years and I think that journey continues," Mr Hipkins says.
Consultation on the draft curriculum runs until the end of May.
