Wairarapa water plan irks iwi

Rangitāne o Wairārapa is slamming promoters of a large scale water storage project for pushing incorrect information and rushed timeframes.
Chair Tiraumaera Te Tau says Wairārapa Water’s Wakamoekau Community Water Storage Scheme will have lasting impacts for future generations and create huge environmental change.
She says Rangitāne people historically had pā sites alongside the Wakamoekau river.
She says the iwi hasn’t been given the information it needs to decide whether it should partner with the project.
Deputy chair Amber Craig says Rangitāne can’t get agreement from the company on how a cultural impact assessment should be done.
