Te Putahitanga counts cost of COVID response
Te Pūtahitanga o Te Waipounamu says in the past financial year it was able to support 178 active entities and connect with more than 23,000 individual whānau members.
Chair Tā Mark Solomon says the results reflect the amazing effort South Island whānau ora commissioning agency made in response to the challenges of COVID-19.
In March as the coronavirus spread rapidly across the globe it launched Manaaki20, using an online survey to identify urgent needs.
As a result, it distributed 25,000 hygiene packs, supported 2,541 whānau with kai, paid 1,346 power bills and 1,260 data/phone bills, and distributed 600 devices, 75 blankets and 338 loads of firewood.
It also continued to carry on the core business of supporting the delivery of whānau ora outcomes.
