Tainui’s Ruakura hub signs first tenant
Tainui Group Holdings has signed express freight operator PBT (formerly Peter Baker Transport) as the first commercial tenant for its Ruakura Superhub.
The logistics and industrial zone including a 30-hectare inland port is under development on the eastern boundary of Hamilton.
TGH chief executive Chris Joblin says PBT has taken a 10-year renewable lease on 10,000 square metres on a premium corner location.
Occupancy will commence in September 2022, following the opening of the inland port, two 800m rail sidings, local link roads and the Waikato Expressway.
Mr Joblin says recent co-funding announcements for the construction of local roads, wetlands and other public infrastructure in partnership with the Government and Hamilton City Council have led to an increase in inquiries from potential tenants.
PBT chief executive Dave Lovegrove says the company’s initial 4,000 square metre logistics facility will be future-proofed for expansion.
