Steady hands keep Waipareira moving
Te Whānau a Waipareira chair Ray Hall has been returned for a further three year term as the West Auckland urban Māori authority reported an increased surplus for 2020.
Board member Moyna Grace was also returned unopposed at last night’s annual meeting at Hoani Waititi Marae.
Mr Hall, who has held the role since 2014, says the result shows whānau support the trust’s direction.
He says it was a challenging year but Waipareira once again set the standards, thanks largely to the vision of chief executive John Tamihere and the work of frontline kaimahi.
Waipareira ended the year to June 30 with a group net operating surplus of $5.2 million, 32 percent up on 2019.
Total Assets increases from $58.9 million to $65.6 million, while liabilities as a percentage of group assets fell from 27 percent to 25.4 percent.
Waipareira’s Whānau Tahi case management system has been sold to indigenous and first nation’s organisations in the United States, Canada and Australia.
