APRA Maioha winner Rob Ruha says Māori artists now have more freedom to create.

Ruha's third Silver Scroll came for Ka Mānu, which he wrote to support the Ihumaatao occupation and to highlight the resistance of indigenous people around the world.

He says it's great to get recognition from his fellow artists.

"It's just a beautiful time. Māori artists, we have the flexibility to liberate ourselves musically and pick whatever genre we want to create with," Ruha says.
