Waititi faces cold reality of politics

Waiariki MP-elect Rawiri Waititi says if confirmed he would like some sort of cooperation deal with Labour.
Labour yesterday struck a cooperation deal with the Green Party including giving its co-leaders ministerial roles outside cabinet.
Mr Waititi says pre-election polls and the party vote on the day shows Māori want a Labour Government with Māori in coalition.
"So we’re waiting for the specials to come in on Friday and then we will see what we can talk about – whether they will be obliging or whether they are wanting to look at what the people have actually said about a Labour Party-Māori Party coalition or are we going to be left out in the cold," he says.
Mr Waititi says if that happens he will sit on the cross benches and see where he can put pressure on Labour to deliver on its promises.
