MP gives Maori Party momentum
Māori Party president Che Wilson says having an MP adds momentum to the party's rebuild.
Mr Wilson joined Waiariki MP-elect Rawiri Waititi for yesterday's induction, and it is moving to make him the co-leader.
That will entitle him to a larger staff in parliament on top of his electorate office team.
"As a party we will be wrapping around so our voice is maintained in all the electorates, not just Waiariki. So we are working that out at the moment and looking forward to the journey because all we needed was momentum. We've got that now," Mr Wilson says.
He says Rawiri Waititi is doing what he does best – making friends with everyone in parliament.
