Respect shown on Tamaki hustings
As the hoardings come down in preparation for election day tomorrow, Tāmaki Makaurau MP Peeni Henare says he’s proud at the way the race to represent the country’s largest Māori city has gone.
The Labour candidate shared a large number of stages with Greens co-leader Marama Davidson and the Māori Party’s John Tamihere – as well as continuing to work with them in his role as Whānau Ora and Associate Health Minister.
He says a feature of campaigning in Māori seats has always been the respect candidates show each other.
"John, Marama and myself have run a strong campaign to make sure we are discussing and debating the kaupapa that are important to our people. As we head towards the polls tomorrow I am confident all three of us will continue to do the good mahi for our people," Mr Henare says.
