Campaign trail great lesson for IronMaori maiden

The Māori Party’s Ikaroa Rāwhiti candidate says she has learned a huge amount from her first campaign.
IronMaori founder Heather Te Au Skipworth feels she has grown a lot as a person, as well as having her assumptions tested in hundreds of kanohi ki te kanohi interactions with voters.
"It’s enlightening. It's sad but it's encouraging because you think yes, that's why I put my hand up to stand. It's not something I woke up one morning and thought "I think want to be a politician, I think I want to stand for the Māori Party.' It's something that has been growing inside me for about seven years. Apparently that's good luck," she says
Heather Skipworth says as a child of eight she has always been on the side of the underdog.
