Labour leader Jacinda Arden says she wants to see a more diverse range of voices coming into parliament.

Ms Ardern was asked by Radio Waatea host Dale Husband what constitutional change she would like to see.

She says New Zealand had already evolved the Westminster system to suit its own conditions, including MMP, the Māori seats and a unique approach to select committees.

"The thing I want to keep seeing change in our parliament is that diversity of voice. We've had the most Māori members in our Labour caucus in recent times. I want to continue to see that particularly amongst our younger members, that leadership coming through. That's where I see we have a role in changing our political system, by who's representative within it," Ms Ardern says.
