Anorexic logic defines Collins’ fat call

The founder of fitness and nutrition social enterprise Buttabean Motivation wants National party leader Judith Collins to apologise to the people of South Auckland for saying obesity is a matter of personal responsibility and choice.
Dave Letele says it shows how out of touch the Papakura MP is with people in the deprived areas of her electorate.
The former heavyweight says there are choices involved in tackling obesity, but it’s not a simple matter.
"Using her logic and way of thinking you would go up to an anorexic on their deathbed and tell them to eat. Or you would go up so someone who was suicidal and depressed and tell them to harden up and get over it. That's the same way of thinking. You wouldn't do it to an anorexic or a depressed person, unless you were Judith Collins using her way of thinking. It's absolutely ridiculous," he says.
Dave Letele says while Buttabean Motivation tries to teach people about healthy food choices on a budget, he understands how hard it is when they are bombarded with ads like chains in Ōtara offering $1 pizzas.
