Murupara has gone digital.
Under-Secretary for Regional Economic Development Fletcher Tabuteau says a digital hub and development centre opened this morning in the remote central North Island forestry village will help grow the region’s productivity.
The hub, Manawa Rere, and the Manawa Tu – Work For Life Centre were created by Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Manawa Trust with the help of a $2.79 million Provincial Growth Fund investment that will pay for office and ICT equipment and programme managers.
Mr Tabuteau says the trust has spent many years renovating and developing a centre that could uplift and support their people.
The Manawa Tu centre will help people access pre-employment training and employment services, and has already enrolled 120 participants including single parents, rangatahi, and workers looking to upskill.
