Nursing leader championed cultural values

The New Zealand Nurses Organisation says the Health Ministry’s outgoing chief nursing officer is a strong advocate for nursing.
Margareth Broodkoorn is off to become chief executive of the Hokianga Health Community Trust.
NZNO head Memo Musa says as the first chief nursing officer of Māori descent Ms Broodkoorn brought true cultural understanding to strengthening nursing workforce planning and supporting advances in nursing practice and models of care.
She also championed infection prevention and control work, especially the use of PPE across the health and disability system.
