Reti ads funny use of money says Social Credit
Social Credit has asked the auditor general to investigate newspaper advertisements run over the past year by National's Whangārei MP Dr Shane Reti.
Leader Chris Leitch says the ads go further than advising the public on how to contact the MP and are effectively campaign advertisements, which cannot be funded with Parliamentary Services money.
They include headlines such as "Roads not Sticks", "National Commits to 4 Lanes", and "Your Strong Local Voice in Wellington."
He says Parliamentary Services money is supposed to be used by MPs to support their job representing constituents, not promoting party policies in the run up to an election.
