Winitana means no win on Ihumaatao

Tāmaki Makaurau MP Peeni Henare is blaming New Zealand First leader Winston Peters for the failure to resolve the stand-off at Ihumaatao.
It's just over a year since Save Our Unique Landscape stopped Fletcher Residential starting work on a 480-home development near Auckland Airport.
While possible solutions have been floated including Waikato Tainui buying the land, Auckland Council buying the land or the crown buying the land for housing or heritage, none have won cabinet support.
Replying to questions at a candidate debate last night at the University of Auckland, Mr Henare said the block was Winitana.
"Labour is always looking for a solution. The Greens were always there to tautoko and wanted a solution. That leaves only one person holding the take and that is New Zealand First. It has been a challenge but we are clear we are continuing to work on a solution. As long as we are Government we are going to continue to push for one and fight for one," Mr Henare says.
