Keep it real in reo for online safety
The Keep it real online safety website has been translated into Te Reo Māori as well as Samoan, Simplified Chinese and Hindi.
Department of Internal Affairs’ digital safety group design manager Trina Lowry says the languages are the most widely spoken in New Zealand after English.
Since the Keep It Real Online campaign launched at the beginning of June the website has received 218,000 visitors, most from New Zealand, and its videos have been viewed over 30 million times.
Ms Lowry says translating the website will help the messages about online bullying, pornography, online grooming, and inappropriate content reach as many parents and caregivers as possible.
