Envy tax drives votes to rivals
New Zealand First MP Shane Jones says the Green’s wealth tax policy is a strong argument for voting for his party.
The Greens want to place a charge on wealth over $1 million and add two more tax steps for high earners to pay for giving everyone without a full time job a guaranteed minimum income of $325 a week.
Mr Jones says it clearly comes from the Marama Davidson wing of the party.
"I think the fact the Green Party have been so loud and so candid about their envy tax is an invitation to vote for New Zealand First as a moderating common sense influence. Other than that, welcome to your new reality – high regulation and high tax from other parties," he says.
