A group which has been helping Māori keep safe from COVID-19 has launched a phone number to allow people to anonymously dob in methamphetamine dealers.
Te Whenua Harawira from Protect Our Whakapapa says dealers and users seems to have become emboldened after the end of the lockdown.
She says the drug is reaching deep into society.
"The number of people in government that are pushing that stuff, I mean workers in government agencies, I'm talking about iwi leaders, talking about youth workers, people working in kōhanga reo that are using this stuff. These are ones responsible for the health and well being of our whānau. How can you really be in those positions when you are doing it," Ms Harawira says.
She says people are putting the drug ahead of their own whānau.
