Check in places as Rotorua receive COVID returnees

Waiariki MP Tamati Coffey says quarantining returning New Zealanders at Rotorua’s hotels is just an extension of the manaakitanga the region is known for.
There has been an alarm raised at the sudden arrival in the sulphur city of several busloads of people direct from Auckland airport to start their two weeks of managed isolation, as Auckland hotels have filled up.
Mr Coffey says he has spoken to the district health board, the police, hoteliers and iwi leaders, and he’s confident the safety and security of Waiariki residents aren’t being compromised.
Tamati Coffey says the returnees will be tested on day 3 and day 12, and there are a couple of nurses stationed at each hotel to monitor them.
