Humble items could unlock treasures stories

It's time to open those cupboards and look for items which may be emblematic of Aotearoa's history.
Pango Productions is inviting the public to submit taonga for a new TVNZ show, National Treasures.
They will be assessed by a team of experts at four roadshows starting in August.
Stacey Morrison, who will present the show alongside husband Scotty, says the real treasure will be the stories the taonga unlock.
"We can actually participate in how these stories are told through items, objects that we have, that may not be worth a lot of money but they contain memories, and that is obviously something we know as Māori, that they have a hau, and something that will open up this story of what was happening at the time," she says.
100 of the taonga will be selected for display at Te Papa.
Items can be submitted by uploading photos and a description to the website www.nationaltreasures.co.nz
