Kapa haka contenders found by consensus
Four rōpū from Te Tai Tokerau will take the stage at next year's national kapa haka competition, despite the rohe scrapping its regional competition because of COVID-19 restrictions.
Waitangi Cultural Committee chair Joby Hopa says leaders of all kapa in the rohe collectively made the decision Hātea, Muriwhenua, Waerenga Te Kaha and Ngā Manu Mātui o Ngāpuhi should go through to Te Matatini in Tāmaki Makaurau.
Aotea also decided to skip rescheduling its regional final, which was supposed to be held in Hāwera in March.
Te Kāhui Maunga Society has decided Te Reanga Morehu o Rātana, Ngā Purapura o te Taihauāuru, Te Matapihi and Aotea Ūtanganui will go through to Te Matatini.
