Wahine Maori top communicators

Māori have taken top honours in the 2020 Communicator of the Year Award.
The top award went to Council of Licensed Firearm Owners spokesperson Nicole McKee for the way she presented her members’ case on the firearms ban and the new Arms Act.
Award coordinator Mark Blackham from BlacklandPR says she kept her cool, treated the media and others with respect, and spoke the everyday language and arguments of New Zealanders to help them see the complexities.
Runners-up were Ihumātao occupation leader Pania Newtown and agricultural influencer Tangaroa Walker.
His‘Farm 4 Life’ online videos and posts have entertained and educated a wide audience about agricultural life.
