CTU tracks bosses breaching pandemic protections

The Council of Trade Unions has launched an online tool to identify employers who aren’t doing the right thing during the COVID-19 period.
CTU president Richard Wagstaff says while the majority of employers are doing the right thing by looking after their employees and following government guidance, there are reports of unacceptable behaviour.
These involve dismissals and redundancies, making workers use annual leave or sick leave use, abuse of the wage subsidy, changing the terms and conditions of employment, mistreatment of casual and other precarious working people, and neglect of health and safety standards for those working in essential services.
The tool on the together.org.nz http://www.together.org.nz/covid-19-work-rights site allows people to tell their stories and log what is happening for them.
Mr Wagstaff says the CTU will raise any systematic breaches of employment law with the government.
