National interest in covid oversight select committee

The Opposition is being given a formal role to review the Government’s response to the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic.
As the country heads into a four-week lockdown, parliament is meeting today to pass an Imprest Supply Bill allowing the Government to spend the huge amount needed for its support packages for households and businesses.
National Party MP Judith Collins says it will also establish a special select committee chaired by Simon Bridges and with a majority of Opposition MPs.
"It’s very important we have some form of questioning and answering. The Prime minister has already ruled out any sort of coalition wartime basically cabinet which is what many people thought might happen and so we need to have something else that replaces that so that is really important and that is starting up I understand next week" she says.
