Hayes takes aim at Mana

National has selected list MP Jo Hayes as its candidate in Mana.

Ms Hayes, who is the party’s Māori development spokesperson, had sought to stand in Te Tai Hauāuru but was vetoed by the leadership which refused to budge on its policy of not standing in the Māori seats.

She has Ngāti Porou, Te Ati Haunui-ā-Pāpārangi, and Rangitāne ki Wairarapa connections.

Sitting MP Kris Faafoi hopes to get back into parliament as a list MP, and the party is yet to select a candidate for what is considered a safe Labour seat.
