Pasifika returns to Western Springs
Pasifika is heading back to Western Springs after a two-year absence.
More than 60,000 people are expected at the two-day festival on March 14 and 15.
For the first time, Solomon Islands will be represented, joining with Aotearoa, Cook Islands, Fiji, Niue, Hawaii, Samoa, Tahiti, Tuvalu, Tonga, Tokelau in celebrating their unique arts and culture.
A new festival stage will feature headline, international and large group performances, including award-winning soul and R&B artists Aaradhna and Sammy J.
Another new addition is the Pasifika Strongman competition featuring four teams representing Aotearoa, Samoa, Niue and Tonga.
Last year’s festival was cancelled because of the Christchurch terror attacks, and to acknowledge the one-year anniversary a minute’s silence will be observed by each village at the start of the festival’s Sunday programme.
