Indigenous voice vital in climate action
Greens co-leader Marama Davison says affirming indigenous knowledge, and leadership is essential to solving the most pressing issues around climate, inequality and nature.
In a state of the nation speech today, she said Indigenous thinking shows us how to be good ancestors to our descendants seven generations ahead.
Drawing a line between the Greens social policies and their environmental aspirations, she said inequality can's be addressed without also addressing climate change. because we need to safeguard the living systems on which all of life and humanity depends.
At the same time, in creating a zero carbon emission country, Governments have to make sure people are able to put food on the table and have a roof over their head, otherwise the solutions will seem irrelevant to their lives.
