Nga Aho Whakaari peers into uncertainty

Māori film and television guild Ngā Aho Whakaari held its annual meeting in Ponsonby with the sector facing huge and unpredictable change.
Chair Hineani Melbourne says the guild is concerned that Māori interests are not compromised as the Government wrestles with how public broadcasting is funded and delivered.
"Being Māori we want to say 'and how can we promote our language and use it creatively so it is cool that people will speak Māori on a daily basis and interact with Māori content and show our culture as well.' These are all the challenges we are facing at the moment," she says.
Hinenani Melbourne says Ngā Aho Whakaari has a stable board and is well placed to tackle the challenges.
