Tide turns for gang whanau

The head of Waikato’s Mongrel Mob Kingdom chapter says the tide has turned and the gang is trying to become more productive.
The gang held a mana whanau event of Saturday, the latest in a series that has been running through the year.
Sonny Fatupaito says it’s about showing the next generation hope for the future.
"“They don’t have to go through the prison system. There are some good people out there that are reaching out and it’s OK to go our and get that help. It’s about role modelling so they are able to be more productive and constructive and positive, making better decisions and choices within themselves and knowing where to go to,” he says.
Sonny Fatupaito says it seems to be harder for politicians to admit the gangs can change than it is for the gangs to change.
