Peters backs Jones in face of Indian attack
New Zealand First leader Winston Peters is standing by his MP Shane Jones who is under fire for comments on immigration.
The party has become the focus for gripes from some in the Indian community have over rules covering issues like arranged marriages and visas for parents, even though the party had no portfolio responsibility.
Mr Peters says no one is going to get a free hit at New Zealand First.
"And Shane’s right in this context, we've been here 1000 years and to have somebody come in from overseas and start attacking us on that basis as if we haven't a right to have a view about the composition and make up and policy of New Zealand's population is an extraordinary position they have taken and they are not going to get away unchallenged," he says
