Developer keen for iwi to invest in Tauranga state house revamp

Social housing provider Accessible Properties has committed to provide more than 400 new townhouses and apartments in Tauranga.
Its proposal presented to Tauranga City Council would replace 140 of the former state homes it bought from the previous government with mixed housing for first-home buyers, retirees and renters.
Associate Housing Minister Kris Faafoi opened the first development of six homes.
Chief executive Greg Orchard says Accessible Properties is seeking investment from the government, developers, iwi and other stakeholders in its Pukehinahina Project in the suburb of Gate Pa.
The aim is to increase new supply by at least 300 homes within 10 years, which would deliver a 26 percent increase in the organisation’s housing stock.
