Bennett for NZ-China role

Ngāi Tahu chief executive Arihia Bennett has been appointed to the New Zealand-China Council, replacing Ngāti Kahungunu chair Ngahiwi Tomoana.
Māori Development Minister Nanaia Mahuta says she will bring a wealth of knowledge about tourism and te ao Māori to the role.
Ms Bennett says the Chinese market continues to grow in importance to the Māori economy, built upon on a unique relationship-based approach.
China’s intergenerational focus is also in line with the Ngāi Tahu vision – mō tātou, ā, mō kā uri ā muri ake nei – for us and our children after us.
