Public pick for liquor trust pūtea

The public is being given the chance to say how west Auckland's liquor trusts will spend $1 million of the money they collect from alcohol sales.
The Portage and Waitākere trusts have set up an online platform, milliondollarmission.co.nz , where people can register and make one vote a day, which translated to $5 for the chosen project.
About two thirds of the 57 projects come from local schools, kura and kōhanga, including developing new playgrounds and shaded areas, but there are also causes including installation of smart pest control traps that can send an alert when they have been triggered, funding for native tree planting and bird habitats, and support for those living with asthma.
