Bridges growled for ‘dog whistle gang attack

The Waikato-based Mongrel Mob Kingdom is accusing National Party leader Simon Bridges of dog whistle politics in his latest attack on gangs.
President Sonny Fatupaito says Mr Bridges rejected an invitation to attend the chapter's Mana Whānau event on Saturday on the grounds that as a Crown prosecutor and MP, he had seen first-hand the misery caused by gangs, particularly in their crime and peddling of drugs and violence.
He says the gang was offering Mr Bridges a chance to see first-hand the radical changes it was making.
Mr Bridges' dog whistle politics play on people’s fears and anxieties but don't solve problems.
Mr Fatupaito says gang members are already the most discriminated, marginalised community of people, and National's policies will further discriminate against their families and loved ones.
