Rangatahi take rostrum at MWWL hui
The Māori Women's Welfare League is opening the floor of its annual hui in Masterton to younger people.
President Prue Kapua says as well as workshops and plenary sessions the hui includes a rangatahi forum on Friday afternoon.
This builds on recent years when rangatahi were invited to address members.
"They're talking about the issues they're most concerned about – climate change, our environment, suicide, mental health issues. They're willing to share that with us and for the membership to be supportive. We can't speak for them but we have to support them in what they are trying to achieve," Ms Kapua says.
