WatchMojo to create Māori Youtube channel
Te Māngai Pāho and Māori Telelevision have inked a deal with Canada-based video content producer, publisher, and syndicator WatchMojo.com for a dedicated Māori channel.
WatchMojo Māori will mainly feature te reo Māori content for second language learners and rangatahi.
Te Māngai Pāho chief executive Larry Parr says Māori are increasingly accessing ther online content on YouTube, and WatchMojo is the 27th largest YouTube channel with more than 18 million subscribers.
He says as well as posting original content, the deal allows Māori Television to reversion other content.
"You don't have to go and get all of those ten greatest Freddy Mercury moments, ten greatest horror moments, it's all there already including an English language script so now all we have to do is translate the English language script and have it recorded and laid onto the content," Mr Parr says.
Te Māngai Pāho and Māori Television have worked together to reversion the first 50 WatchMojo Māori episodes.
